THE LITTLE ART PROJECT

Please check out my new blog here: http://thelittleartproject.blogspot.co.uk/

I create, I draw, I paint, I photograph… I’ve now decided to blog about ART. My ART. Other people’s ART. Attention grabbing ART.

I usually make art for myself, or as a gift to significant others.  I thought it would be a good idea to blog about them, to showcase them to my friends and to the outside world. And to write about what inspired me and the idea behind each piece.

My style is refined and my works present a concise visual image. I like contemporary, bold, colourful, statement pieces with minimalised details and clearly defined outlines. Most of my work revolves around the female body, somehow! I have mostly used Gouache & Aquarelle in the past and recently have started using Oil and Acrylic on canvas.

Being the creative person that I am, I have always enjoyed drawing and painting.  I find it a very relaxing activity albeit one that requires patience, focus and meticulous attention to detail.  Sometimes I paint because I have a clear idea or subject in mind, sometimes I paint to distract myself from day to day routine and escape to a different world where I can express my creativity, sometimes just out of pure randomness and of having nothing better to do; and sometimes to make an imperfect copy of a piece that I fell in love with.  One thing for sure is that once I get started on a piece, I feel utterly determined to finish it out of my impatient self to see the final oeuvre and hanging it up on the wall somewhere…and I would not be satisfied until I make the final retouches here and there that would then make the work worthy and perfect to my eyes.

I also like photography and capturing “the” moments.  I like museums, art expositions, galleries and the likes.  So I will be writing and posting pictures on these related subjects as well.

The Cronut!!!!

I recently came across (after a friend from NYC recommendations) the “Cronut”.  The name gives it all…as my friend rightfully describes it - the love child of a doughnut and a croissant!

You can find the Cronut offspring at Dominique Ansel Bakery in Soho, New York City, or you can buy online here.

Dominique Ansel rose to fame in New York City, where he served as the Executive Pastry Chef for Restaurant Daniel (one of NYC’s finest high dining institutions) under celebrity chef Daniel Boulud.

The menu also features some of my favourites:
Les petits cannelés
Le gâteau battu
Les madeleines
L’Arlette

I really can’t wait to go back to the city that never sleeps…

The Little Closet Brunch Project

My girls and I organised a Little Closet Brunch this weekend.  We had a brunch of banana pancakes with blueberries and strawberries (accompanied by maple syrup and fresh whipped cream), smoked salmon and cream cheese toasted sandwiches, goat cheese with berries honey...and...mini buttermilk and forest berries cupcakes freshly baked by the Little Cupcake Lady!!

After lots of bubbly and Hugo cocktails, we then moved on to a closet swap where we exchanged each other's clothes, a new and ethical way to revamp our wardrobe...!!!
